To celebrate the release of our Charlotte Silk Corset with Orchid Corsetry, we’re sharing our top tips to help you master the art of corsetry with confidence + ease.
From finding your perfect fit to achieving an impeccable cinch, we’ve got you covered.
HOW TO FIND YOUR PERFECT CORSET SIZE
Getting the right size is key to that flawless, cinched look. Follow these three easy steps to find your perfect size:
Step 1: Locate your natural waist by bending side to side to find the fold. Measure around the natural waist firmly with a tape measure.
Step 2: Measure 3 inches up from your natural waist to find your mid-rib, then measure around accordingly.
Step 3: For your high hip measurement, go 3 inches down from your natural waist + measure around.
Now you have these key measurements, head over to our corset size guide to find your perfect fit.
HOW TO PUT ON YOUR CORSET
Putting on a corset can feel challenging, but this step-by-step guide makes it simple:
Step 1: Fully loosen the back laces, undo the front hooks, + wrap the corset around your torso. Fasten the hooks once it’s on.
Step 2: Center the corset + adjust the modesty panel so it is sitting centrally behind the laces.
Step 3: To tighten the corset, pull the laces out to remove any excess slack. Pull the bottom laces up to tighten the lower half, + pull the top laces down to tighten the upper half.
Step 4: Adjust until you have a two-inch lacing gap, then tie a knot + finish with a bow.
Top Tip: Season Your Corset
Start by wearing your corset for short periods (about two hours) to let your body adjust. Gradually build up tolerance over a two week period before wearing it for longer stretches.
TAKING OFF YOUR CORSET + AFTERCARE TIPS
Taking good care of your corset will ensure it remains in top condition.
When removing, it's important to untie + fully loosen the laces to release all tension before unhooking the front busk + taking off the corset.
Then once you have removed the corset, allow it to air out on a chair for a few hours (or overnight) before storing it in a protective bag to prevent damage.
